Parker Project Benefit

May 5, 2026

I am certain that every community already knows the many benefits of the performing arts — how they give young people a way to express themselves, to connect with others, and to become the artists — and people — they aspire to be. The arts build confidence, creativity, and resilience — and create space for so much joy along the way.

We also know that not every young person with passion and potential in dance and the performing arts can explore these opportunities. Too often, it’s money and access that decide who gets to pursue the arts and continue with their studies— and who doesn’t.

That’s why The Parker Project exists.
The mission of The Parker Project is to fuel the development of talented young students in Connecticut who want to grow in the performing arts with scholarships, access to opportunities, and other critical forms of support.

One of the most meaningful ways we live out our mission is through the Steven A. Merrihew Performing Arts Scholarship — created in honor of our friend Steve, a gifted performer, actor, and lyricist who we lost far too soon.

Through this annual scholarship opportunity, the Parker Project has already awarded nearly $100,000 to graduating high school Seniors across Connecticut who are going on to study the performing arts in college. These scholarships don’t just help with tuition — they open doors. They let young people know: “You belong here. We believe in you. Keep going.”

But our impact doesn’t stop there.
The Parker Project has also distributed more than $50,000 right here in your own Dance Community — helping families cover the cost of classes, costumes, performance fees, summer intensives and workshops. That means we’re not only helping students take their next big step into college — we’re also making sure dancers and performers in this very community have the support they need to grow and thrive...to accomplish their dreams.

The Parker Project is a nonprofit, and we rely on your generosity to keep this work going and growing. We’d be so grateful if you’d consider becoming a sponsor or donating. You can do that right now through Venmo using the handle @theparkerproject. And because we’re a nonprofit, your donation is tax-deductible. We would like to acknowledge your generosity by giving you Complimentary Tickets to come share in an evening of song and dance and see your generosity at work.

Every dollar you give helps cover expenses like college tuition, application and program fees, costumes, and more for young people in our community and across Connecticut — the real, everyday costs that stand between a young artist and their dreams. Thank you for considering becoming a part of The Parker Project community and cheering on these amazing young artists and creatives. Please consider being a part of a community that believes in access, equity, and the power of the arts. You can reach us for more info at Nikole.theparkerproject@gmail.com. THANK YOU!
